Billion Dollar Babies

The True Story of the Cabbage Patch Kids

Narrated and executive produced by Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris and directed by Andrew Jenks, Billion Dollar Babies: The True Story of the Cabbage Patch Kids is a feature-length documentary that captures the incredible true story of the Cabbage Patch Kids, leaving nothing untouched, including the fundamental dispute over who originated the idea. From the marketing genius of the “hospital” in an idyllic North Georgian town where children “adopted” the dolls and solemnly pledged to love and care for them, to the subsequent business deal that gave rise to utter retail pandemonium, the film takes viewers on the wild ride through the Cabbage Patch Kids’ highs, lows and undeniable legacy.

We worked with Andrew Jenks’ and the team at Believe Entertainment to build a suite of graphics to help illustrate this saga of modern American consumerism, from its folk art origins to mass production, from Appalachian craft fairs to big box stores, from TV movies to inevitable flameout. The film is having its’ premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival.

It is being distributed by Abramorama and was released in cinemas (fittingly) on Black Friday, 2023. For screen times and more info, check out the movie’s website.
