Simple Happiness was my thesis project created in the final year of my undergraduate degree in Film and Television at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. I began writing the story soon after completing my study abroad semester at Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA). Upon arriving back in Australia, I worked quickly to gather a team to help create this film. We carefully organized each element and workshopped the script for months with the cast before getting to set, even driving the 8 hours to Wentworth, NSW to scout our location for the desert dream-scape.
The collaborative environment during the creation of this film was one that I strive for in each of my projects to this day. Everyone involved felt that they were contributing to something of which they could proudly take ownership; from the actors to the sound designer to the makeup artist.
