“Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened” is a documentary about the lives of the original cast of the Sondheim/Prince musical “Merrily We Roll Along”, then and now, and how the experience impacted their lives. The film had its world premiere at the 54th New York Film Festival on October 9 at Alice Tully Hall. The screening was followed by a rare appearance and Q&A with Stephen Sondheim. It is being distributed by Abramorama and was released in cinemas on November 18, 2016.
Over the course of a year I worked closely with Producer, Ted Schillinger to create all graphic elements in the film and help Director, Lonny Price’s story take form. The story is heartwarming, tragic and beautiful. It was key to keep the graphic elements unobtrusive in only a way to complement the materials we are showing. I loved working on this film and I think everyone who was a part of it, including its’ audience has had an emotional connection to its story.
